After a long and thorough verification by the Hilal Council of Canada we are delighted to declare that Eid-ul-Fitr will be insha Allah on Sunday and completing 30 days for this blessed month of Ramadan. The council adopts global sighting and there were no satisfying and valid sightings around the world that meet our criteria. The new moon was born only at 1:38 pm (ET) on Friday May 22 which makes it impossible to be see east of the Americas unless a sighting was of the waning moon of Ramadan (al-Urjoon al-Qadeem). The waning Moon is sometimes faintly visible because the Earth also reflects sunlight as a dull glow onto the Moon. This phenomenon is called earthshine or Da Vinci glow, and it is most noticeable in April and May.
