There was a confirmed sighting of the moon, thus Muharram will complete 29 days and the 1st of Safar will begin on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. The report was received very late on Tuesday/early Wednesday morning, thus the initial message sent stated there was no sighting. The moon was sighted in Santa Cruz near San Jose, California, and was accepted by multiple Hilal organizations in the US including the Central Hilal Committee of North America, and was verified by local scholars of the HCC.

I pray Allah blesses each one of us and the entire Ummah in this month, Āmīn.
